In this three-day hands-on workshop, CJ will share her use of various surface techniques including preparing the bisqued surface, setting the underglaze pencil, shading techniques, and the use of underglaze washes.

This workshop will also involve working with soft slab techniques, discussing interesting forms that enhance the overall design.

CJ Niehaus has focused on clay as a 3D canvas for many years. Using the soft, sketchy lines made by underglaze pencils allows her to indulge in her love of drawing while creating objects for home--marrying the narrative with the object.
